Nathers was initiated in 1993 to provide a standardised approach to rating the thermal performance of Australian homes. Houses built before that are vulnerable tend to compromise to the extreme weather.
From Mid-2025, Australian households will have access to Nathers for exsiting homes to find out how well their homes are performing in terms of thermal comfort and to identity energy loss around the house.
Nathers for existing homes is now being accessed by finance sector, property valuers and energy assessors to verify green loans, helping them access green capital markets to lend money for home upgrades, and help drive energy performance improvements. Home owners who wish to reduce their energy bills will also be able to consider engaging an energy assessor through Nathers existing homes to help them achieve their goals.
